Cars in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the liquid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
